runaway lovers
fishing-boats & waterways
a willow-patterned past.

Today’s Chinese lovers
have their own apartments,
rock-bands & fast-fade jeans,
Western imperialism
in a different groove.

You can still buy the crockery
in Woolies, or any downtown
Chinese grocery store.
